The Ukrainian military showed a spectacular video of the destruction of enemy artillery.

The Ukrainian military destroyed the North Korean Koksan SAU, which was in service with the Russian army. The artillery unit has a firing range of up to 60 kilometers.

This was reported by Telegram channel of the 413th regiment of the SBS "Raid".

"On the Alexandrovsky direction, the fighters of the "Raid" detected and hit a North Korean self-propelled artillery installation "Koksan" with a 170 mm caliber cannon," the regiment said in a statement.

It is noted that this is one of the longest-range artillery pieces the Russians have, with a range of up to 60 kilometers.

The Reid emphasized that such installations are relatively rare targets on the front. Their use indicates that in order to compensate for the loss of its own artillery, in particular due to the wear and tear of the barrels of 203mm 2S7 Pion self-propelled guns, the enemy is forced to use equipment transferred by North Korea.

What is known about the Koksan

The M-1978 Koksan is a North Korean self-propelled artillery unit with a 170mm cannon. The designations M-1978 and "Koksan" were assigned to this type of SAU by U.S. military analysts as they first learned of it that year in Koksan, North Korea.

"Koksan" is the longest-range barrel artillery system of the Korean People's Army. It had a range of 40 kilometers with a fragmentation projectile and up to 60 kilometers with an active-jet projectile. It is believed that the Koreans also developed a chemical munition for it.
