And demanded the lifting of sanctions against Russian energy.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a video message that oil prices are rising, particularly because of Ukraine. Therefore, he called on the European Union to suspend all sanctions against Russian energy.

"Because of the Ukrainian oil blockade and the war in the Middle East, crude oil prices have started to skyrocket in Hungary as well. In this situation, the Ukrainian oil blockade imposed by Zelensky is the most serious threat already not only for Hungary and Slovakia, but for the entire European Union," the Hungarian prime minister said.

Orban said that "two decisions must be taken to overcome this danger":

"In the whole of Europe, we must review and suspend all sanctions imposed against Russian energy carriers. I initiated this today in a letter to Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

And domestically, we must prevent diesel and gasoline prices from rising to unbearable levels. For this purpose, I have called an emergency government meeting this afternoon."
