Russia Lost A Military An-26 Over Crimea

The Russian Defense Ministry said it lost contact with the An-26 aircraft during a scheduled flight over temporarily occupied Crimea. The fate of the crew remains unknown at the moment.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the publication of Russian official authorities. The incident occurred on March 31 at about 18:00 Minsk time.

While performing a scheduled flight over the temporarily occupied Crimea, a Russian An-26 aircraft stopped communicating. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.

There is currently no confirmed information about the condition of the crew and possible causes of the accident.

The Russian ministry says that no signs of the aircraft being hit have been recorded. This version, according to them, is not considered as the main one. The circumstances of the incident are still being clarified.

Search and rescue teams have already been sent to the area where the plane disappeared. Their task is to locate the An-26 and find out the fate of the crew.

Besides the An-26, Russia may have lost another military aircraft on March 31: Z-propagandist Fighterbomber reported the crash of a Su-34 fighter-bomber. Other Z-bloggers write that the plane may have crashed while repelling Ukrainian drone attacks. It is reported that the pilot was killed, and the fate of the navigator is still exactly unknown. Military portal "Militarnyy" suggested that the plane was performing a combat sortie as a carrier of guided aerial bombs. The AFU General Staff and the Ukrainian Air Force have not yet commented on this information.
