The Novoshakhtinsk refinery supplied fuel to the Russian army.

On the night of April 1, drones attacked strategic facilities in Russia's Rostov region. The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery could again come under attack, writes Dialog.UA.

The air alert in the Rostov region was announced last night, March 31. Shortly after midnight, explosions were heard in different parts of the region, which makes it possible to talk about a massive air attack.

The governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, admitted that on the night of April 1, UAVs made massive strikes on the region's facilities. According to him, "as a result of falling UAV debris, there is destruction on the ground."

He did not go into details, saying only that the drones were most active in the direction of Novoshakhtinsk. In addition, objects in Taganrog, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky and Bataysk came under attack.

The Rostov region authorities do not say what objects were "damaged on the ground." Central Russian authorities have also remained completely silent. A Russian Defense Ministry report only says that on the night of April 1, Russian air defenses allegedly shot down 42 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies above Russia, 30 of them over Rostov Oblast.

Novoshakhtinsk, which was most actively attacked by drones on the night of April 1, is home to a large oil refinery.

Before the Russian army's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the enterprise processed up to 7.5 million tons of crude oil annually.

This refinery supplies fuel to the Russian army, so it is a legitimate target for the AFU. The AFU has previously attacked the Novoshakhtinsk refinery on several occasions, for example, in August 2025.
