How will it work?
Ukraine and Bulgaria have agreed on the development of the "Vertical Gas Corridor", which will significantly expand the volume of natural gas transportation.
This is reported by Charter97.org with reference to Telegram of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
It is noted that the Vertical Gas Corridor project provides access to diversified sources of natural gas supplies for the countries of the region. After the completion of its implementation, the throughput capacity of the route may reach about 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
This also opens up additional opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of gas supply and storage, in particular, using Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities.
According to Shmygal, in parallel, the Ministry of Energy continues active work on the development of other promising areas of natural gas supplies to Ukraine. In particular, the Polish route opens access to LNG terminals in Poland, Lithuania and Germany, as well as to the resources of Norwegian production through the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline.
An agreement has also been recently reached with Polish partners to increase the capacity of gas imports to 6.7 billion cubic meters per year until the end of April this year.
"The implementation of these initiatives will ensure Ukraine's access to natural gas from different sources, will contribute to strengthening the energy security of the state and the region, as well as deepening Ukraine's integration into the European energy market and the EU," the energy minister stressed.
Reminder, earlier the Financial Times wrote that the global market of liquefied natural gas (LNG) faced a critical challenge due to the blocking of supplies from the Persian Gulf.
