Scandalous Pro-Russian Latvian Politician Fled To Belarus

Riga City Court of Latgale suburb on Thursday decided to change the measure of restraint for Riga City Council deputy, former leader of the party "For Stability!" who left for Belarus, to arrest, reports rus.tvnet.lv. Alexei Roslikov to arrest, reports rus.tvnet.lv.
Roslikov was initially charged with assisting a foreign state in activities against Latvia. In this part, the criminal proceedings were terminated by the State Security Service (SSS) because the investigation did not produce sufficient evidence, the prosecutor's office confirmed to LETA.
According to the prosecutor's office, in the videos, the defendant deliberately spread false statements characteristic of Russian propaganda about neo-Nazism in Latvia, the oppression of Russian speakers and the complete ban on the Russian language.
In his speech, he created the impression that Russian speakers in Latvia were under threat and that the authorities were allegedly systematically persecuting them. He concluded his speech with a phrase in Russian: "There are more of us! The Russian language is our language!", supplementing his speech with a demonstration of an insulting gesture.
