It's Official: Mossad To Be Headed By A Native Of Belarus

A native of Mozyr Roman Hoffman has been officially approved for the post of the head of the Israeli intelligence service "Mossad". This was announced by the office of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Hoffman was the No. 1 contender back in December 2025.
The military has now approved the advisory committee for senior appointments.
After receiving approval from that committee, Netanyahu signed an order appointing Hoffman as the next intelligence chief.
Officially, he will assume his new position on June 2, 2026, replacing David Barnea, whose term is expiring.
The future general was born in Mozyr in 1976. He repatriated with his parents to Israel in 1990. He studied in a high school in Ashdod and then in a military dormitory in the settlement of Eli.
In 1995, he was drafted into the armored forces of the Israel Defense Forces. He served as a platoon commander and then as a company commander. In 2002, he took part in Operation "Protective Wall". He was then appointed Deputy Commander of the 71st Battalion of the 188th Armored Brigade. Then he held a similar position in the 460th Armored Brigade. Later, he served on the staff of the Gaash Armored Division.
In 2011-2013, he commanded the 75th Battalion in the 7th Armored Brigade.
Roman Hoffman in 2019 became the first Big Aliyah representative to reach the rank of major general and receive a division under his command. Hoffman became commander of the Ha-Bashan Division in the Northern District, guaranteeing the security of the Golan Heights and its surrounding areas.
On October 27, 2022, he assumed the position of commander of the National Ground Forces Exercise Center.
On October 7, 2023, while fighting Hamas militants, he was seriously wounded in a battle near Sderot.
Roman Hoffman is married and has three daughters.
