Fitzo Congratulated Magyar On His Victory

Slovakia's prime minister says he is willing to work with Hungary's new government.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo has congratulated Tisza leader Peter Magyar on his election victory in Hungary, saying he is ready to cooperate with the new government, especially in the energy sector.

Fizo announced this on Platform X.

Fizo is considered the main partner of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who was defeated in the election, in the EU. Together, the leaders opposed numerous EU decisions, particularly on Ukraine.

The Slovak head of government said he recognizes the decision of Hungarian citizens and that he is ready to work closely with the country's new government.

Fitso said Slovakia seeks friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Budapest. Bratislava supports the restoration of the Visegrad Group format, which still includes Poland and the Czech Republic.

Separately, Fitzo emphasized the joint approach with Hungary in "protecting energy interests." In this context, he recalled the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline damaged by Russian attacks. Recall that Fico and Orban together accused Ukraine of blocking the work of the oil pipeline.

"I believe that Slovakia, Hungary and Central Europe as a whole still have a significant interest in restoring the work of the Druzhba oil pipeline," the Slovak prime minister wrote.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on March 19 that Budapest would not unblock any decision favorable to Ukraine until Kiev resumes supplies of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
