Hungarian media have noticed the absence of Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó from the public space since the historic electoral defeat of Viktor Orbán became known.
This was noticed, among others, by the website 444.hu.
The journalists noticed that Szijjártó was not by Orbán's side when he publicly admitted defeat in the election. He has also been "silent" on social media for more than 16 hours - his last Facebook post was around 4 p.m. Sunday urging Fidesz supporters to vote. In the morning, he shared how he and his wife voted in the election.
Reminder, Szijjártó found himself at the epicenter of criticism against Orbán and team after the "leak" in investigative journalism of his conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and accusations that he leaked confidential details of negotiations at EU summits to Russia.
A few hours after polls closed in Hungary on Sunday, Prime Minister Viktor Orban conceded defeat after 16 years in power and congratulated his rivals on their victory.
