The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office Kyryl Budanov, who previously headed the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, has agreed to take up a new position under certain condition. This was reported on April 14 by Bloomberg.

The publication notes that Budanov's key demand was to retain his military status. According to journalists, this can be felt already at the entrance to his office: the reception desk no longer has the usual civilian staff - instead of a secretary there is a young man with military dressing. The article cites an episode when he said over the phone: "Read, familiarize and destroy."

Bloomberg also emphasizes that the post of head of the President's Office is considered one of the most difficult and conflict-ridden in Ukrainian politics. Budanov's predecessors - Andriy Bohdan and Andriy Yermak - faced serious criticism and political conflicts.

Budanov himself recognizes the ambiguous reputation of the post, but, according to journalists, intends to change its perception.

"It is not the place that defines the person, but the person shapes the place. Let's see how I leave this post," he said.
