The Russian Offensive Has Faltered At The Start

It became known on what important direction the AFU broke the enemy's plan.
Ukrainian units thwarted an attempt by Russian troops to sharply increase pressure in the Liman direction in late March. According to the head of the unmanned systems control point of the KRAKEN 1654 Daniil Polozhukhn unit on Ranok.LIVE, the enemy's first attacks were unsuccessful for them and resulted in significant losses.
"These first spurts of theirs, which they started back in late March, were very painful for the enemy, they suffered losses and then slowed down after that. Nothing significant so far," he noted.
Despite this, the situation at the site remains tense. Russian forces are trying to isolate the Ukrainian bridgehead and create additional pressure on defense logistics. Military observers note that the enemy is gradually increasing the intensity of fighting, testing weaknesses and changing tactics.
The press secretary of the Joint Force Group Viktor Tregubov emphasizes that with the arrival of spring, Russian troops have more opportunities to move personnel and equipment to different directions. This may lead to new waves of attacks in the near future.
At the same time, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War believe that in the spring-summer campaign of 2026, the Kremlin may try to break through Ukrainian defenses in Donetsk region, particularly in the section of the so-called "belt of fortresses." Liman, according to their estimates, remains a key point opening the way to Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, important defense centers in the north of the Donetsk region.
Russian units are also recording a change in their approach: they are more actively using infantry, armored vehicles, mobile groups, as well as increasing the number of strikes with guided aerial bombs and drones. This indicates preparations for a possible new stage of offensive operations.
