Otherwise, the U.S. could move to tougher action.
If negotiations with Iran fail, the US may move to tougher actions. It is, in particular, about the resumption of bombing.
U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on board Air Force One. The words of the White House head are quoted by CNN.
The continuation of the truce is not guaranteed, the American president said. Trump said he may not extend the temporary truce with Iran if the countries fail to reach an agreement by April 22. In that case, he does not rule out renewed hostilities and the imposition of a blockade.
"I may not extend it. Then you will have a blockade, and unfortunately we will have to start dropping bombs again," the US president said.
He also said that the second round of talks between the US and Iran is likely to take place this weekend. At the same time, Trump expects that a final agreement to end the war could be signed in the next "day or two".
Note that the temporary truce between the US and Iran lasts from April 8 to April 22. The first round of talks, which took place on April 11 and 12, ended without any agreement being announced.
