The U.S. leader warned he would return Iran to the Stone Age.
The United States outlined approximate dates for the end of the military operation against Iran, which began on February 28.
U.S. President Donald Trump said this, reports Charter97.org with reference to the broadcast of his address to the nation.
Donald Trump said that the key goals of the U.S. operation against Iran are close to being achieved. However, the American leader did not name a specific date for the end of the war.
The statement was also made about the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
"The United States does not need the Strait of Hormuz, it should be dealt with by those who use it to transport oil," Trump said.
At the same time, Trump outlined the approximate timeline for the continuation of military action in Iran.
"We will hit them very hard in the next 2-3 weeks. We will take them back to the stone age, which is where they belong," Trump stated.
What else Trump stated
He said all nuclear facilities where Iran intended to continue the program have been completely destroyed.
Trump emphasized that Iran was rapidly building up a stockpile of conventional ballistic weapons that could reach Europe, the United States and other parts of the world.
The U.S. president said Iran's goal was to produce as many weapons and missiles with maximum range as possible.
Iran, Trump said, was on the verge of possessing nuclear weapons despite years of U.S. warnings.
Trump said regime change in Iran was gradual as many of the country's regional leaders were dead and the threat of new leaders being eliminated persisted in the absence of an agreement.
The US leader added that any attempt by Iran to restart its nuclear program would be detected immediately and quelled with new strikes.
