Parliament denounced the founding documents.
On Thursday, April 2, the Moldovan Parliament decided to denounce the Agreement on the Establishment of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the relevant protocol and the charter of the organization.
The press service of the Moldovan Parliament informed journalists about this, "European Pravda".
The initiator of the rupture of the fundamental documents was the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry noted that the fundamental values and principles of the CIS are no longer observed, and the organization itself has lost the meaning of its existence.
The main argument for Moldova's withdrawal from the CIS was the gross violation of the principle of mutual recognition of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders by the Russian Federation.
In particular, Kishinev points to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, aggression against Georgia and the illegal presence of Russian troops on the territory of Moldova itself, in the Transnistrian region, as evidence of the complete destruction of the foundations of the commonwealth.
The denunciation of the documents was called a natural and inevitable step on the way to Moldova's full membership in the European Union.
The withdrawal from the organization will allow the country's budget to save about 3.1 million lei annually (more than 150 thousand euros). This is how much was Moldova's membership fee to the CIS budget.
After denunciation, relations with the CIS member states will continue on bilateral and multilateral platforms, and Moldova will remain a party to a number of CIS treaties, particularly in the trade, economic and social spheres.
Today Moldova has denounced about 70 agreements with the CIS as part of a continuous process of harmonizing national policies and modernizing the country's legislative and economic framework in line with EU standards and norms.
On March 11, the Moldovan government approved the denunciation of the fundamental documents of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
And the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on March 25 decided to terminate 116 international agreements previously concluded with the governments of Russia, Belarus and the CIS.
