Most Foreigners In Vilnius Are Belarusians

The capital of Lithuania is home to 18.2 thousand of our compatriots with temporary residence permits.
Vilnius Mayor Valdas Bencunskas says that of the 76,000 foreigners living in the city, only 15,000 are citizens of European Union countries, writes LRT.
The number of non-EU citizens living in Vilnius is growing rapidly. There were about 22,000 in 2020, and there is a significant jump after 2023. Last year, the number of non-EU citizens in the Lithuanian capital already reached 58 thousand and was twice as high as in 2022, when there were 29 thousand.
The largest number of non-EU citizens arrived in Vilnius from Belarus: just over 18.2 thousand of them have a temporary residence permit in Lithuania. Another 5.5 thousand people came from Ukraine, and just over 2.4 thousand people are citizens of Russia.
People from such countries as India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Cameroon also came to live in Vilnius.
