Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Fatalizadeh of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who commanded the Fatehin special unit, has died in Iran. His death was reported by an Iranian news agency affiliated with the Defense Ministry, but the circumstances of the death were not specified, writes Radiyo Svaboda.

Fatalizadeh was one of a number of senior Iranian officials killed in recent weeks in military actions and strikes by Israel and the United States. According to international media reports, dozens of officials and commanders were killed in attacks as early as late February.

The Fatehin unit, which Fatalizadeh led, is known for its specialized training. Its members have previously taken part in the war in Syria and worked to quell protests in Iran. Authorities have repeatedly noted their role in the fight against demonstrators.
