Iran Has Refused To Hold Talks With The U.S. Until The U.S. Embargo Is Lifted

Iran will not hold a second round of talks with the United States until the U.S. military lifts the naval blockade, Iranian parliament member Ahmad Naderi has said. CNN reported earlier that Iran-US talks are scheduled to take place on April 22 in Islamabad.

Ahmad Naderi said the Iranian delegation did not travel to Pakistan. "The information about the presence of our team at the talks is a pure lie," he told Iran's SNN television channel.

The Iranian side has not yet confirmed participation in the new round of talks, Iranian Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar said. "Pakistan has made sincere efforts to persuade the Iranian leadership to participate in the second round of talks and these efforts are continuing," he wrote on social networking site X.

According to Reuters sources, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has not yet traveled to Pakistan for the talks, but a U.S. delegation plans to fly to Islamabad soon.

The truce between Iran and the United States expires on April 22. The previous talks were held in Islamabad on April 11. The two sides failed to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. After the US began a naval blockade of Iran. On April 17, Tehran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, but the next day it restored military control over it.
