Trump Allowed New Talks With Iran In A Day And A Half To Three Days

  • 22.04.2026, 20:41

The temporary truce between the countries expired on April 21.

The US and Iran may hold a new round of talks in the next 36-72 hours. This The New York Post was reported by U.S. President Donald Trump.

"It's possible!" he wrote in a text message to reporters.

The sides signed a temporary ceasefire on April 8; it expired on April 21. That same day, Trump extended the ceasefire.

In the hours afterward, Islamabad continued to work through diplomatic channels with Iran, and the specified period of potential new talks is based on an assessment of that work, a Pakistani source told the NYT.

"The ceasefire continues despite the escalating rhetoric, which shows positive intentions on both sides," the source said. There is no military escalation by either side, he said. Meanwhile, Pakistan remains a key mediator between Tehran and Washington, he added.

Iran's Tasnim news agency writes that Tehran has not yet scheduled any talks with the US for Friday.
