A date has been named.

French President Emmanuel Macron has no plans to enter politics after his second term ends in 2027. He said this during a discussion with students of the Franco-Cypriot school in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, which he visited before an informal European summit, Ukrainform reported.

"I didn't get involved in politics before (before the presidency - ed.), and I won't do it afterwards," Macron said.

He said that the last period of his second five-year term was the most difficult to defend his achievements. The French president explained that he once "started a political movement and then went for the presidency" because he was always interested in the life of his country and wanted his ideas to be realized.

"But it was to, and still is, to do things that I think are not just useful. It's a fight for my country and our Europe to move forward and defend the values I believe in, so it's a matter of passion," Macron said.

Macron became president of France in May 2017. He won the second round of elections. And in April 2022 he was re-elected for a second term.
