Ukrainian Company Undertakes Development Of Patriot Analogs

But there are nuances.
Ukrainian company BlueBird Tech, known for developing FPV drones, electronic warfare systems and the so-called "Bebradron", has announced the launch of a new direction - missile engineering. It is about creating its own air defense missile system capable of intercepting not only drones and cruise missiles, but also ballistic targets, writes Defense Express.
The new project is in line with President Vladimir Zelensky's strategy to develop domestic air defense systems. Special emphasis is placed on the ability to intercept ballistic missiles, which will reduce Ukraine's dependence on foreign supplies, in particular American Patriot systems and scarce missiles to them.
Development at the start - and without experience
The company is just starting work on the complex and is actively looking for engineers and specialized specialists. At the same time, BlueBird Tech has no previous experience in rocket building, which can significantly complicate the process. Experts note that the creation of a modern SAM system is a long and expensive path that requires significant technological resources.
Technological barriers
To intercept ballistic missiles, the system must meet a number of complex requirements:
a powerful radar station for early detection and tracking of targets;
an interceptor missile with an accurate homing head;
the ability to maneuver with high overloads;
the "hit-to-kill" principle - direct engagement of the target at speeds of several kilometers per second;
developing its own solid-fuel engine.
In addition, to implement the project, the company will probably have to cooperate with other Ukrainian and international manufacturers, because it is practically impossible to create all the components on its own.
Despite the ambitiousness of the initiative, the experts of the publication treat it with restraint. The transition from drone production to high-tech missile systems is an extremely complicated step. Therefore, one should not expect quick results.
