The United States has spent $25 billion on the military operation against Iran, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Financial Affairs and Pentagon Chief Financial Officer Jules Hurst said during a House Armed Services Committee hearing. The broadcast is hosted by C-Span.

"Approximately to date, we've spent about $25 billion on Operation Epic Fury, most of it on munitions," he said.

Part of the money is for operations, maintenance and equipment replacement.

In mid-March, two weeks after the war began, the Pentagon estimated spending on the war at about $11 billion.

The committee hearing comes amid discussions by the U.S. presidential administration of additional funds to cover costs and replenish the arsenal. U.S. officials plan to request up to $200 million, Politico notes.
