US Intelligence Has Learned When Iran Will Unblock The Strait Of Hormuz

Information from recent reports has surfaced.

Iran is unlikely to open the Strait of Hormuz anytime soon, as control of this key artery of the world's oil supply is Tehran's main leverage with the United States.

This is evidenced by the latest U.S. intelligence reports, according to Reuters.

According to intelligence reports, Iran is unlikely to open the Strait of Hormuz anytime soon, as control over this key artery of the world's oil supply is Tehran's main leverage against the United States.

As the publication writes, Tehran may continue to restrict traffic through the strait by keeping energy prices high to force US President Donald Trump to find a quicker way out of the war, which has lasted nearly five weeks and remains unpopular among US voters.

Reports also suggest that the war, which was intended to weaken Iran's military might, could actually increase its influence in the region by demonstrating Tehran's ability to threaten a key maritime route.

As is well known, Trump has tried to downplay the difficulty of restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which transports about a fifth of the world's oil. On Friday, he suggested he might order U.S. troops to open the passage.

Analytics have long warned, however, that an attempt to use force against Iran, which controls one side of the strait, could be costly and drag the United States into a protracted ground war.

One expert notes that Tehran realizes its ability to influence global energy markets through control of the strait and it is "far more powerful than even nuclear weapons."

Iran is known to have blocked the Strait of Hormuz back at the beginning of the war with the US and Israel. Since then, oil prices have skyrocketed globally as many ships carrying the "black gold" have been unable to pass through the strait.
