Drones "trashed" An Oil Pipeline Near The Russian Port Of Primorsk On The Baltic Sea

The Leningrad region of the Russian Federation is again under attack from the air.

In the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation, attack drones damaged a section of an oil pipeline near the port of Primorsk. This was reported by the region's governor Alexander Drozdenko, reports UNIAN.

According to him, the incident occurred during the morning drone attack: debris from one of the drones damaged the pipeline infrastructure.

At the same time, satellite data from NASA's fire monitoring system (FIRMS service) recorded the fire not on the pipeline itself, but on the territory of the oil depot. This is probably a fire that has been going on since the end of March.

The port in Primorsk is the terminus of the Baltic Pipeline System and Russia's largest oil port on the Baltic Sea. It is estimated to be capable of handling up to 1 million barrels of oil per day, so even localized damage could affect export logistics.

The issue is probably not the main oil pipeline, but the onshore infrastructure that supports the terminal.

Previous attacks and large-scale damage

The port has already been subjected to drone attacks on several occasions. In particular, after the March 23 strike, several berths were damaged and a large-scale fire started in the tank farm.

At least eight tanks with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters each - about 40% of the total storage capacity - could have been damaged then, according to public data.

In general, the terminal has a powerful infrastructure with nine berths for tankers of large tonnage and is one of the key elements of Russia's oil exports, along with the ports of Ust-Luga and Novorossiysk.
