The U.S. Has Begun To Scare Lukashenko

Washington has taken on the friends of the Belarusian ruler.
Political scientist Alexander Klaskovsky writes for "Pozirk" about Lukashenko's talks with the United States:
- Until the beginning of 2026, everything was wonderful. Lukashenko was glowing because he was showered with attention by the leader of the most powerful country on the planet.
December 12, at a meeting in Minsk with U.S. special envoy John Cole, the Belarusian ruler paid the head of the White House a "subtle" compliment: "They say that Trump likes flattery. But I'm not here for flattery. I want to say that lately I like him very much with his actions."
But then followed actions that came to Lukashenko's apparent dislike:
- First, American special forces carefully took Nicolas Maduro right in his flip-flops to take him to court in New York. And then, at the very beginning of the war against Iran, another autocrat - Ayatollah Ali Khamenei - was physically eliminated at Trump's behest. The Cuban dictatorship seems to be next in line.
Then Lukashenko did not clap his hands. "There was collusion there and there was treachery there. <...> So we need to be as careful as possible," he blurted out after Maduro's capture. Apparently, a thought crept in: how reliable is my entourage?
And then Cole, as he himself admitted, began to scare his Minsk vis-a-vis: "There's a loser's table, that's the table you're at. You are there, at that table, with Cuba, with Iran, with Venezuela. <...> If you want to sit at the table where the good guys sit, you have to behave like a normal country. And a week and a half ago (in early March), I told him: look, you're the only one at the table where the losers sit, so keep that in mind".
So the Americans started to educate. Moreover, Cole, who has had soul-satisfying conversations with Lukashenko more than once, even with vodka, concluded that his hard-to-educate interlocutor was impressed: "I really think that what we did in Venezuela and what we're doing in Iran scared the hell out of him.
