Several explosions occurred on the island of Kharq, through which Iran delivers 90% of its oil production. According to Iran's Mehr news agency, the strikes were carried out by US and Israeli armed forces.

On the night of April 8, the deadline that US President Donald Trump has given Iran for opening the Strait of Hormuz expires. Trump has stated that Iran can be "done with in one night" and "that night could be the next night" (i.e. April 7 to 8).
