The authorities have brought the enterprise, which was taken away from the private sector, to the brink of collapse.
Lukashenko criticized the economic performance of the nationalized Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC) at a meeting on April 7 at the Palace of Independence.
According to him, the enterprise has not yet reached full capacity utilization in biochemical and feed production, while the key indicators of the production program remain unfulfilled. In addition, there is a serious deficit of working capital.
Lukashenko noted that the corporation management, instead of solving the problems, again counts on state support. He emphasized that there are no additional budget funds, while any assistance is temporary and must be returned.
At the same time, as the politician said, BNBK has already received significant preferences: tax benefits, state guarantees on loans and a special procedure for accounting for exchange rate differences. Br226 million of budget funds have been allocated to the authorized capital of the enterprise, while the volume of soft loans from China amounted to about $600 million.
Despite this, according to Lukashenko, the expected results have not been achieved, although "everything and even more" has been done to launch and develop the project. He also pointed out that the wages at the enterprise remain about 16% higher than the average for the region, while the only notable achievement was the expanded geography of export supplies.
Lukashenko said that the possibilities of budget support for BNBK have been exhausted.
Reminder, from the beginning of 2024, the controlling stake in the corporation (77%) was transferred to the state.
