How Ukraine managed to increase the shooting down of Russian drones.
Today, interceptor drones have occupied a very important niche in the Ukrainian air defense system, which has many components. In particular SAMs, REB means, helicopter and manned fighter aviation, mobile fire groups.
About this "24 Kanal" told the advisor to the Ukrainian defense minister and founder of the charity foundation "Sternenko Community" Sergey Sternenko, noting that drones-interceptors or any other component of the general air defense system alone cannot significantly secure the sky.
Today, interceptor drones on average demonstrate destruction rates among all enemy drones - from 20 to 30%. According to the advisor to the Minister of Defense, in certain regions of Ukraine, as voiced above by the military command, interceptor drones can account for more than 50% of all destroyed enemy air targets.
- This is a very effective tool that has become the answer to the latest threats. If they are removed now, the consequences will be extremely bad. I am sure that after drones-interceptors we will still have unmanned fighters in time, - Sternenko voiced.
He noted that there is still a lot to work on drones-interceptors, especially in the organization of work, but Ukraine is on the right track. According to him, our state is moving quite fast in this direction.
In order to increase the percentage of downed enemy UAVs thanks to interceptor drones and not only, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has initiated personnel, structural and organizational changes. As noted by the advisor to the defense minister, in the Air Force was appointed deputy commander Pavel Elizarov.
"In addition, now every air attack is immediately "analyzed" in detail. We find out what our weaknesses were, what worked and what did not. This issue is under the personal control of the defense minister on a daily basis. There is a quick response at once. If we had something wrong, they try to fix it in the next few days, not months," Sternenko assured.
With regard to the development of technology, he emphasized that Ukraine also acts in an accelerated manner. He said that now there is a collection of funds on the accounts of the BF "Sternenko Community" (on Rusoriz, a new FPV-drone technology) to conduct the initial stage of scaling. However, the Ministry of Defense will also take care of this further.

Sternenko voiced that representatives of the Ministry have already gathered, they were informed about this new technology, how it works, called to establish the appropriate production. But it takes time, because there are minimal bureaucratic procedures.
- In order not to waste time now, we decided to announce a collection from the fund, to attract additional funding for the realization of the first stage of scaling. Today we are very short of funding at the state level. Ukraine has a budget deficit, it is quite large. We are waiting for a 90 billion euro loan from the EU to be unblocked," Sternenko said.
To summarize, he added that now the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and in particular its head Mikhail Fedorov are actively engaged in changes to improve the situation. According to him, many changes will be announced in the near future, including those regarding the mobilization process and basic general military training.
