Trump Got Mad At Carlson For Criticizing The Iran War

The influential journalist has been an ally of the U.S. president for many years.

In the US, influential blogger and podcaster Tucker Carlson has urged US officials to oppose any possible attempt by Trump to order massive strikes that would kill civilians in Iran.

The Wall Street Journal reported this on April 7.

"Now is the time to say no, absolutely no, and to say it directly to the president: 'no'," the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported. Officials should tell the president to 'figure out the codes on the 'soccer' himself,'" Carlson said, referring to the "black suitcase" with the missile launch codes.

A little earlier in his podcast, Carlson also called Trump's recent profane statements about opening the "f**king" Strait of Hormuz "evil" and said they "are a mockery of Christianity and Islam."

In response, President Trump responded in comments to New York Post reporter Kaitlin Doornbos that Carlson is a "low IQ person."

"Tucker is a low IQ person who has absolutely no idea what's going on. He calls me all the time, but I don't return his calls. I don't socialize with him. I like to communicate with smart people, not with fools," the White House chief said.

In addition, as WSJ writes, far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, conservative publicist Candace Owens and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green (Georgia Republican), who for many years was a loyal ally of Trump and now has become his fierce critic, also spoke out against the US president's statements.

What's more, Green called for Trump's ouster while invoking the 25th Amendment, which can be triggered by the US vice president and a majority of the government - if they deem the head of state incapable of performing his powers and duties.

"The 25th Amendment!!!!! Not a single bomb has been dropped on America. We cannot destroy an entire civilization," the ex-Congresswoman wrote.

Tucker Carlson has been a Trump ally for years. He spoke at the Republican Party National Convention and endorsed Trump during the 2024 campaign.

Carlson previously repeatedly spread untruths and Russian propaganda about Ukraine. He left Fox News Channel in April 2023, after which he launched his own show on social network X.

In February 2024, Tucker Carlson interviewed Vladimir Putin. After that, he offered Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to communicate in the same format and said he allegedly agreed on the interview. But presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov denied Carlson's statements.

In February 2025, Carlson called Zelensky a "dictator" and said Ukrainians were spending "his money."

On June 17, President Trump publicly quarreled with Carlson. The reason for the conflict was his position on the war between Israel and Iran. In particular, Trump called Carlson crazy.

"Explain to crazy Carlson that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons," the White House chief wrote on the social network Truth Social.

In December 2025, the blogger conducted an interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

On March 2, 2026, The New York Times reported that Carlson was almost the only one of Trump's close allies who opposed the U.S. military operation in Iran. Moreover, according to the publication, he met with Trump three times at the White House - to talk him out of it.

March 6, the White House chief said in an interview with ABC News' Jonathan Karl that Carlson was no longer part of his MAGA (Make America Great Again) political movement - because of disagreements over the military operation in Iran.

"Tucker has lost his way. I've known this for a long time, he doesn't support MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is "America First" and Tucker has nothing to do with that. And Tucker isn't smart enough to realize that," the President of the United States concluded.
