Defense Express naval expert Vladimir Zablotsky told Radio NV in an interview who was the target of the Ukrainian drone strike from Libya.

"This first case, as you say, 2025, drone on a tanker - it was not an attack on a tanker. In my opinion, it was an attack on a group of Russian [military] covering the former Wagner company, who were returning from Africa to Novorossiysk. A general of some kind was destroyed there. It was an aerial drone that hit the right place at the right time, with no damage to the tanker," Zablotsky said on Radio NV.

He also noted that if the information about the attack is true, it is a testament to the subjectivity of Ukraine and its Defense Forces.

On April 3, French RFI radio, citing "informed Libyan sources," reported that Libya had reached an agreement with Ukraine to station 200 Ukrainian military personnel at three sites on its territory. In exchange, Ukraine will provide drone training and investment.

The sources said Ukrainian troops attacked two Russian shadow fleet ships from Libyan bases, including the tanker QENDIL, which was struck on December 19.
