However, the Ukrainian president is ready for a meeting with Putin.
Trilateral talks with Russia have been postponed for today, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said. According to him, the US is now more focused on the Middle East. However, he also emphasized that the process will resume.
"I am ready to meet with Putin. Of course, not in Moscow and not in Kiev. But if he is ready to meet with me, there are many places for that. We can find an option in the Middle East, in Europe, in the United States - anywhere," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Rai.
On Donbass, Zelensky explained, "We cannot discuss just ceding Donbass. If we leave Donbass to the Russians, they will take our most protected positions without any losses. It may take a year or a year and a half to build new lines of fortifications. They will be able to attack Kharkiv and other cities that contribute a lot to our GDP. This will cause a division in society. And any division is Putin's key goal and the death of our independence."
Touching on the issue of security guarantees, Zelensky expressed concern about a possible repeat offensive by the Russian Federation in a few years. In this regard, he said it was necessary to ensure the military and political presence of Europe and the United States in the framework of future agreements.
