Including for U.S. Courts.
The Strait of Hormuz is open, including for US vessels. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said this in an interview with the British channel ITV. He said navigation by the Iranian military is necessary for safe passage.
"Every ship needs to coordinate the necessary precautions with Iranian authorities to pass through the strait safely," Khatibzadeh said. He said this is due to military measures taken by Iran after the US and Israeli attack, including the planting of mines. "Time is needed to remove them," Khatibzadeh said. Until then, Iran can provide "maps and routes for safe passage," he said.
According to Iran's deputy foreign minister, the permit applies to vessels of any states in the absence of "hostile behavior." "But we believe that there are no signs of such behavior at the moment," the Iranian representative said. He assured that all vessels can pass through as normal while observing the specified precautions.
On April 7, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week truce with Iran, during which the sides are expected to reach a final peace agreement. The next day, the first ship passed through the Strait of Hormuz since the announced truce.
