Trump Doesn't Want To Wear Body Armor For Aesthetic Reasons

Safety or appearance?

US President Donald Trump was asked by News Nation correspondent Libby Dean whether he would consider wearing body armor, writes Bild.

"I don't know if I could stand to look 20 pounds heavier," Trump replied. "Those guys look so good," he added to laughter, clearly referring to the Secret Service agents guarding him - in bulletproof vests!"

The president then responded already seriously, "I think that's something to think about. Trump, however, has more than just aesthetic concerns. He would not want to wear the vest "because it means giving in to a bad element" - apparently meaning giving in to those who hate him so much that they are willing to try to kill him.

On the evening of April 25, Cole teacher Thomas Allen wanted to assassinate Trump during a Correspondents' Association reception at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC. The incident has sparked discussions about security measures at events involving the president. In doing so, One Secret Service officer was wounded by the attacker, but was saved by his bulletproof vest.

In the past two years, Trump has survived three assassination attempts: in July 2024, a man shot at him in Pennsylvania, and the bullet grazed Trump's ear. In September 2024, another man tried to shoot him while playing golf in Florida; the assailant was sentenced to life in prison. Now Trump has escaped a third assassination attempt.
