Gas stations have come out against price regulation in their stores.

Networks of gas stations in Belarus have appealed to the MART with a request to abolish price regulation for them. This was reported in the press service of the agency, writes "Tochka".

The Ministry gathered representatives of several networks of gas stations.

As a result, the agency made a final decision.

Will regulate prices at gas stations

Belarus has a decree № 713 of the Council of Ministers, which limits prices for a number of products.

But representatives of gas stations asked to abolish the regulation for retail trade facilities at gas stations. Representatives of Belneftekhim Concern, A-100 Filling Station Group, Gazpromneft-Belnefteprodukt, Lukoil Belorussia, Tatbelnefteprodukt spoke in favor of it.

"According to the results of discussions, analyzing the positions of government agencies and assessing the possible impact on consumers, the proposal is not supported by the majority of participants of the working meeting," said the agency.

Thereby it was rejected and prices in gas station stores will continue to be regulated.

But the ministry assured: the current system will be improved.

Price Regulation in Belarus

Alexander Lukashenko "banned" the growth of prices in Belarus on October 6, 2022. Then he called the cost of goods in the country already prohibitive. Raising the price tag was allowed only with the permission of government agencies.

On October 19 of the same year, the Council of Ministers signed a decree on the new system of price regulation. The document affected both Belarusian and imported products. Some items were removed from the list of regulated goods. For example, luxury goods and flowers.

In February 2023, the decree was amended. Thus, there were more opportunities to change prices without coordination with government agencies.

Later, many commodity items were repeatedly removed from the restrictive list. There were also changes in markups on the cost of a number of food products.

For example, in April 2025, Resolution No. 713-6 was adopted. It significantly reduced the list of regulated goods - by 120 items - to 211 commodity groups.

In addition, separate relaxations were prepared for manufacturers: in some cases, they could independently raise selling prices and not apply for permission to a special commission.

MART noted: after that, customers noticed that meat and dairy products and certain confectionery products became more expensive. Later, it was necessary to tighten the measures in relation to these categories of goods again: the manufacturer is again obliged to agree on the change in price.
