EU Ready To Start Membership Talks With Ukraine: Deadlines Named

The European Union may open the first cluster of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU by the end of next month. The other five sections could be opened in July.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who lost his position after losing the election in April, had previously opposed this decision. This was stated by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, reports "News. Live".

She appealed to all states regarding the start of Ukraine's negotiations to the European Union.

The first cluster could be opened as early as during the Cypriot presidency, i.e. by June 30. The other five - in July.

She also said that today, May 11, there will be an important meeting between the EU, Ukraine and Canada. At the meeting, officials will discuss three important topics - how to bring Ukrainian children abducted by Russia back home, how to take care of their families after their return and the "very important" issue of responsibility for the abduction.
