"Something Is Going On": Sensitive Processes Have Begun In The Kremlin

The analyst explained the change in the behavior of the Russian elite and in Putin's rhetoric.

Russian elites have long influenced the Kremlin about ending the war in Ukraine, which is draining the country's economy. Recently, however, Vladimir Putin's entourage has a new cause for discontent.

The founder of the Resurgram community Dmitri Kornienko explained in a conversation with 24 Kanal why the Kremlin chief's behavior is irritating the elite and upsetting the balance in the Russian power system. At the same time, the change in tone in Vladimir Putin's rhetoric toward the Ukrainian government is notable.

Who controls the head of the Kremlin?"

Kornienko explained that certain pressure groups in Russia are unhappy that Putin is isolated from the outside world and even from his entourage.

"Putin is the embodiment of a conditional social contract of clans, elites, oligarchic groups, and siloviki, which fixes the informal rules of behavior within the power system. Although he has virtually unlimited power, he is still limited by the need to ensure the balance of this contract," he emphasized.

At the same time, he is reported by the media to be shut in a bunker for several weeks, and even his close entourage cannot get to him without a three-day inspection. This indicates, as the founder of the Resurgram community suggested, that someone may be controlling Putin's "bubble."

It is known that the Federal Security Service has banned both Putin and his entourage from using any devices that are connected to the network. It turns out, in his opinion, that the service that provides security for the head of the Kremlin already controls who can approach Putin, pass him information and the like.

"Therefore, there is no center that provides rules for the groups of influence that exist in the Russian government. For example, Sergei Kiriyenko (the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration - Channel 24), through his son, who runs the VKontakte corporation, is trying to block the Internet in Russia. And thereby obtain a unique right to control the media field," emphasized Dmitri Kornienko.

But this media field is fragmented - there are bloggers that are loyal to different clans - Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu, the Defense Ministry, the FSB.

"Because the less resources the Kremlin has, the more redistribution occurs and the balance of power is disturbed. The wealth of the richest people in Putin's entourage is growing despite the economic crisis. After all, assets are being taken away from people less loyal to the regime in their favor. However, it is difficult to analyze the speed of these processes due to the lack of information," he believes.

But even the change in Putin's rhetoric, who previously called the Ukrainian leader a "drug addict" and recently referred to him as "Mr. Zelensky," is evidence that something is happening. And these processes, according to the founder of the Resurgram community, are quite sensitive.

What is happening at the top of the Russian government?

Political technologist Yuri Podorozhny explained that Putin has already lost complete control over power in Russia. Now the levers of influence are concentrated in the FSB and the leaders of the military-industrial complex. Today, he suggested, the question is whether the system needs Putin.

The confrontation between Putin's administration and the FSB is growing by the day, as intelligence reports indicate. Podorozhny remarked that if the head of the Kremlin was truly in control of power, Russia would not have reached the situation it is in now. Therefore, it is the FSB that will determine "who will become the next president of Russia."
