Yermak, The Former Head Of The Ukrainian Presidential Office, Has Been Granted $3.18m Bail

By the morning of May 18, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had paid the full amount of bail - 140 million hryvnias (about 3.18 million dollars). This "Suspilny" was reported by his lawyer Igor Fomin, the information was also confirmed by the press service of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.
Now Yermak will be able to leave the detention center, where he spent four nights. As it was specified earlier, after bail is paid, he will wear an electronic bracelet, he will be forbidden to leave Kiev, as well as obliged to surrender his foreign and diplomatic passports and limit contacts with the defendants in the case and witnesses.
On May 14, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine elected a measure of restraint for Andriy Yermak in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 140 million hryvnias ($3.18 million).
Yermak himself said that he did not have such a sum and counted on the help of friends and acquaintances.
The NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office on 11 May reported suspicion of the former head of the presidential office. According to the investigation, it is about an organized group involved in the legalization of about 460 million hryvnias during the construction of the elite residential complex "Dynasty" near Kiev in the village of Kozin, where four residences of about 1,000 square meters each were planned.
Yermak is charged with legalization of property obtained by criminal means (part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), which provides for a penalty of up to 12 years in prison.
