"Where's Their Money?"

Belarusians raise serious questions about the pension system.

There are already noticeably more Belarusians over 65 in the country than children under 15. Such an imbalance can lead to a number of problems. At present, there are about four pensioners per ten employed in the economy. Previously, it was expected that in 25 years, the same ten employed people would actually support six pensioners. But with updated demographics, the burden could be even greater, and there simply won't be enough money to pay even a meager pension.

Readers of Charter97.org discuss this information on TikTok and give advice to the authorities on how to solve the problem. Here are some of the comments:

- I don't understand at all. I've been working since I was 16 years old, almost 40 years of experience. And someone will support me? I earned this pension!

- Ask the police officers, who not only retire early, they retire higher than usual.

- I'm 65, I work, my son also works, our taxes and payments make two of my pensions.

- Pensioners work and make contributions to the pension fund.

- Everyone who gets a pension earned it by paying taxes. I have 42 years of service, and my pension is small, I worked as a kindergarten teacher, nobody feeds me, I earned it for so many years of work.

- Pensioners work because they can't live on their pensions.

- Reduce the salaries of officials

- My salary is less than some people's pensions. And what will I get when I retire? Social? 297 rubles? And how will I live?

- Excuse me, can you live on our salaries?

- More than half of them don't live to see their pensions. Where's their money?

- Stop talking nonsense to people, let them live in peace! How long can we raise the age? Already people don't live long enough to retire.
