What The First Ukrainian KAB "Virivnuvach" Is Capable Of And What Is Its Uniqueness

  • 19.05.2026, 16:04

The war is already being felt in the very center of the Russian Federation.

Ukraine has created its own guided aerial bomb called Virivnuvach. It has passed all the necessary tests and is ready for combat use.

The Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov announced this. According to him, this is how Ukraine is moving from imports to the creation of its own weapons, which significantly strengthens the Defense Forces. Journalists of the FREEDOM TV channel investigated how Ukrainian arms production is developing.

The development of the first Ukrainian corrective aerial bomb (CAB), created with the support of the Brave1 defense cluster, lasted 17 months, and now the Defense Ministry has purchased the first experimental batch. Pilots are practicing combat scenarios and adapting the weapon's use in real warfare conditions. This is a unique bomb, which was developed from scratch by Ukrainian engineers without Western or Soviet technology. Its warhead is 250 kg, the bomb is capable of hitting targets dozens of kilometers away.

"Ukraine is moving from importing individual solutions to creating its own high-tech weapons, which systematically strengthens the Defense Forces and provides a technological advantage on the battlefield. Ukrainian KABs will soon start hitting enemy targets. We are scaling up solutions that increase the range and accuracy of defeat and change the rules of modern warfare," said Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov.

Ukraine is also actively developing and producing a new generation of unmanned systems. The Chaklun interceptor drone has a mission success rate of 88 to 100 percent, said a spokesman for UAV manufacturer Ivan Andruschak.

If a mission is not completed, the drone can be safely returned, prepared and reused. Ukraine presented this UAV model and other weapons of its own design at the SAHA-2026 international exhibition in Istanbul. The country was represented by 15 companies at the common national stand ZBROYA. The Caklun interceptor jet drone is a multifunctional mobile system designed for aerial visual reconnaissance. It can reach speeds of up to 320 kilometers per hour and spend up to three hours in the air. And importantly, it can operate at low altitude.

"The current conflict in the Middle East has shown that even major international defense companies do not have an effective defense against an inexpensive and accurate threat in the form of Shahed-type drones. But we do, because we have already gained experience in countering such attacks. Ukraine has found countermeasures to these challenges and is now effectively using interceptors on the battlefield. That is why the interest in such systems is very high," Andruschak said.

European allies have seen how effective Ukrainian technologies and developments are in combat, so they continue to expand cooperation with Ukraine in the field of security and defense. For example, Ukraine and Lithuania signed an agreement within the framework of the Drone Deal project. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky expressed hope that a similar agreement will be signed with Latvia. Ukraine will send its experts to partner countries to share experience and strengthen the states' security against expanding Russian aggression. Meanwhile, Dutch and German companies are accelerating the development of a new long-range RUTA Block 3 missile with a range of 2,000 kilometers. The Block 2 version, created with the support of Ukraine's Brave1 cluster, is now being tested in Ukraine. Its production is planned to be increased this year.

- Europe must have its own anti-missile systems and be self-sufficient in countering these threats. We reiterate again: we need our own missile defense and strengthening of Ukrainian air defenses now. This week, we are working with partners to strengthen the defense of human lives. Thank you to everyone who is already working on this together with Ukraine," Zelensky emphasized.

Ukrainian weapons are already successfully fulfilling their tasks. On May 17, the Angstrem enterprise, which specializes in the production of microchips for high-precision weapons, was hit in the Moscow region of the Russian Federation. Also hit was a pumping station used for pumping, storing and shipping large volumes of gasoline and diesel fuel, including for the Russian army.

"The more such strikes, breakthroughs of Russian air defense, the closer the collapse of their policy and their decision-making paradigm. Then Russia will have to talk from a weakened position, not a strong one. Now they cannot achieve the goal of a "military operation", on the contrary, it is unfolding to them with strikes on their territory. So Moscow is actually the key center of the whole country. And this is the concentration of all energies to make a decision to stop the war," commented Valeriy Borovik, founder of the defense products manufacturer First Contact, a participant in the fighting.

Although Russia continues to bet on massive attacks on Ukraine, the war is already being felt in the heart of the Russian Federation. The strikes on companies in the Moscow region prove that the formerly "powerful state" is now unable to defend itself and is in a very weak position. Therefore, partners are increasingly investing in joint developments with Ukraine, realizing: Ukrainian experience and technologies are becoming the basis for a new security system in Europe.
