Peruvians were being shipped out to fight in the war against Ukraine.

The Attorney General's Office of Peru has launched an investigation into possible human trafficking: it is suspected that Russians recruited Peruvians for the war against Ukraine. This is stated in a statement of the Peruvian government, writes liga.net.

Investigations have begun in Lima and North Lima following complaints filed by relatives of Peruvians. According to the families' accounts, people were offered jobs as security guards and other positions in Russia, promising salaries. But they were taken to the Russian Federation and forced to participate in hostilities against Ukraine, their relatives told Peruvian law enforcement authorities.

The investigation is being conducted for a probable crime against human dignity in the form of human trafficking and aggravated human trafficking.

"As part of the preliminary investigation, witnesses are being questioned and requests for information are being made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Directorate of Migration," Peru's attorney general's office said.
