Because of the fakes about the situation on the front in Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Ministry continues to report non-existent successes on the front in Ukraine. In mid-May, the military ministry reported the capture of the village of Borovaya in Kharkiv Region, but by that time Ukrainian forces had managed to dislodge Russian troops from the village, according to the largest Z-channel Rybar, which has the largest number of subscribers. According to its data, Russian units conducted a series of attacks in late April and "got a grip" on the development in Borovaya, but already in early May the supply of the assault squads was disrupted and they rolled back, writes The Moscow Times.

After that, however, videos allegedly confirming the capture of Borovaya began to appear. Most of them were filmed 25 kilometers from the village in the Kolomiychikha settlement, which has long been under the control of the Russian military. "It is interesting that this is not the first time Kolomyychikha has played the role of a setting for false reports: previously the 'control' of Novoplatonovka was filmed there after an extremely unsuccessful assault," Rybar noted. Similarly, according to his data, the shooting in the rear Tavolzhanka was passed off as control over Kupyansk. Meanwhile, the false report about the capture of Borovaya became an occasion for Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov to congratulate the servicemen of the 423rd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment on this "success". He thanked the command and the servicemen for "performing tasks and service".

Before that, the capture of Borovoy was reported by the head of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov. Last November, he also claimed the "liberation" of Kupyansk, which the Russian army still does not control. At the same time, Gerasimov had already reported the capture of Kutkovka and Velyka Shapkovka, which are west of Kupyansk. In addition, he assured that Russian troops controlled 85% of Krasnoye Liman, while Z-channels wrote that the fighting was only on the outskirts of the city and there were no significant changes in the situation.

In reality, the Russian army's advance in Ukraine has slowed down, and in May it practically stopped. According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel DeepState, Russian troops occupied 29 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory during 11 days of May. At the same time, back in January they managed to seize 245 square kilometers, and in February, March and April the pace of the offensive was 120-160 square kilometers. The slowdown occurred due to the increased attacks of the AFU on Russian logistics. Now to capture 1 square kilometer of Ukrainian territory, Russian forces need to conduct an average of 36 attacks.
