Trump's Approval Rating Plummeted To A Low Because Of Republicans

The assessment was affected by a sharp rise in gasoline prices.

US President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to near its lowest level since his return to the White House - and the reason is not the Democrats, but his own party.

This is reported by Reuters.

According to the poll, 35% of respondents approve of Donald Trump's performance as president. That's down 1% from the previous survey earlier this month.

According to Reuters, the president's popularity has suffered this year due to soaring gasoline prices after Trump ordered strikes on Iran with Israel in February.

The war has significantly disrupted global oil trade, with fuel prices for Americans rising by about 50 percent.

This has caused concern among Trump's allies in the Republican Party ahead of November's midterm elections, which will decide control of both houses of the U.S. Congress.

Dropping support among Republicans

In Trump's party, discontent is also spreading, with 21% of Republicans saying they disapprove of the president's performance now, down from 5% just after he takes office in January 2025.

About 79% of Republicans in the poll said Trump is doing a good job, up from 82% earlier this month and 91% at the start of his term.

The biggest issue is prices

Republicans are most dissatisfied with the way he is addressing the cost of living. During the 2024 election campaign, he promised to lower prices - precisely on top of the inflation that plagued previous President Joe Biden.

Results of the poll:

only 47% of Republicans approve of Trump's actions on price

46% of Republicans say he is doing a poor job on these issues

among all Americans, only one in five are satisfied with the president's handling of the cost of living.

The poll was conducted May 15-18 in an online format. A total of 1,271 U.S. adults participated in the survey.
