The U.S. intelligence community is studying possible options for Cuba's response to U.S. military action.
According to CBS News.
According to the two officials, in early May, analysts at the Pentagon and the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency began analyzing what Cuba's response to a strike might be.
The work is now underway to study scenarios of military options to present to U.S. President Donald Trump.
CBS News writes that such intelligence projections are intended not only to show the immediate consequences of U.S. actions, but also the chain of reactions that could follow.
It is noted that American military strategists often take such analyses into account when developing options for action that the US president may consider.
Trump wants to take over Cuba
Reminder, Donald Trump has recently had an increasing number of statements regarding Cuba. Earlier, he repeatedly noted that after Iran, it is the Caribbean island nation that could become the next priority of American foreign policy.
While speaking to the Forum Club in West Palm Beach, the White House head said that Washington seeks to establish control over Cuba "almost immediately."
The Trump team also began to discuss scenarios of possible forceful pressure on Havana, including not excluding a military strike.
At the same time, the Cuban authorities do not intend to yield without resistance. Earlier it was reported that Cuba has acquired drones to strengthen its defense capabilities amid tensions with the United States.
In the meantime, the United States has deployed an aircraft carrier strike group led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz to the Caribbean.
