"It's Especially Infuriating That Mothers Are Seen As Deadbeats."

  • 21.05.2026, 15:33

What else will the authorities come up with to take "extra" money from Belarusians?

The discussion of the "tax on idleness" continues unabated in social networks. Users are outraged not only by the tax itself, but also by numerous bureaucratic delays and mistakes of the state bodies, which send "letters of happiness" to the citizens of the country.

"Misemployment in Belarus is another item that makes me sick," writes a user under the nickname svoedelo_by in Threads. - You had to come up with that: "not involved in the economy". And it turns out that you should have been involved for only 45 BYN".

The majority of users supported the author of the post. The site Charter97.org cites the most popular comments:

- If a person goes to the store, buys clothes, he is already involved in the economy. The Soviet norms of measuring the country's happiness by tons of smelted pig iron have never died out.

- It is especially infuriating that mothers are considered to be slackers. Does a child at the age of 7 suddenly become so independent that he or she can do without supervision and accompaniment of parents? And it's a quest for a mom with a child, especially a child who is often sick.

- Yes, it's infuriating, I agree. After this new year there was some surprises in these ugly commissions - moms with children in line to prove that they are not idle. Ugh.

- It's really gross. The very essence of it. All these definitions of who's a deadbeat and who's not so far. Humiliated attempts by people to excuse themselves. Those pathetic letters from pathetic "labor" commissions. And the reality... Where there is no work for a person of age, for example.

- There are people who are sick and can not fully work, but they do not give them disability, or even they themselves do not want to, because then you can not get a normal job, and the allowance is pennies for the third group, you can not live on it. And that's it, for the state you are a deadbeat.

- There is an acquaintance, two years not working, sitting on his mother's neck, lost his passport, evicted from the dormitory, no residence registration, and he, damn it, no one is not looking for him, no one writes him letters that he is considered a deadbeat, and I had two summer months of no orders, of course I did not pay tax, so I sent a letter from the administration that I am considered a deadbeat and told even in the absence of revenue to pay at least 5 rubles of tax. There are no words - only emotions! And the law on deadbeats was written by those who do nothing!

- Soon a tax on childlessness will be introduced, as it was in the USSR.

- Yes, it is a humiliation. We pay the tax as it is. When we go to the store, we pay for the goods, we don't take them for free.

- Yes, and I also imagine how many people are engaged in these unoccupied for my taxes.
