The movie will be based on the novel Connie.

Paramount Pictures has begun work on the fourth installment of The Godfather. The movie will be based on the novel "Connie," which will be released in 2027. This Associated Press was reported by Random House, the publisher that bought the rights to the novel itself. According to the agency, it is the first time the story of the Corleone crime clan has been told on behalf of a woman.

The novel was written by Adriana Trigiani, an American novelist and the author of eighteen best-selling novels. She became the first woman to write a novel based on the "Godfather" universe. According to the AP, "Connie" has been approved by the heirs of the author of the first Mario Piuso novels.

The novel "Connie" is scheduled for release in the fall of 2027. The plot centers on Constance (Connie) Corleone. She is the youngest child and only daughter of Don Vito Corleone and Carmela Corleone. Her role in the three Godfather films was played by Talia Shire, sister of director Francis Ford Coppola.

"Connie is a novel about a woman trying to make her own way in a world that has already decided who she is, what she is and how she should be treated," Trigiani stated.

The Godfather saga began with the Mario Piuso novel of the same name, which was released in 1969. In 1972, Francis Ford Coppola released an adaptation of the novel. The director filmed two more installments of the story, in 1974 and 1990. A spokesman for Mr. Coppola called it "unlikely" that the 87-year-old director would be filming a fourth installment of the saga anytime soon, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
