The dictator has set a record pause in traveling around the Russian Federation.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has set a record for the longest pause in traveling through Russia's regions. According to journalists, there was no such pause even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to "Agency. News".
Putin's last trip to the Russian region took place back on November 6, 2025, when he visited Samara. Since then, the dictator has not traveled outside the regions where his main residences are located.
According to journalists, the current pause has already reached 196 days and has become the longest even compared to the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the beginning of 2026, most public events involving Putin have taken place in the Kremlin, Novo-Ogaryovo or within Moscow and St. Petersburg. One of his first public events in 2026 was a closed visit to a Christmas service at a church on the grounds of the GRU's Senezh base in the Moscow region.
Putin also visited MIPT students in Dolgoprudny and participated in events to mark the anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad. The ceremony in St. Petersburg was held for the first time without spectators.
The journalists suggest that Putin's long refusal to travel may be related to his own security concerns. As Russian authorities have been claiming an alleged attempted attack on Putin's Valdai residence in late 2025. Although Western leaders, particularly Donald Trump, have questioned the veracity of these claims.
Even during the pandemic, Putin's maximum travel break was 132 days, and before the full-scale war in Ukraine, the breaks between visits usually did not exceed 45 days.
