Bloomberg: Ukraine Recaptured 400 Square Kilometers Of Occupied Territory From Russia
- 22.05.2026, 8:09
U.S. intelligence has been published.
Earlier this year, Ukraine managed to reclaim about 400 square kilometers from the Russian Federation after Starlink internet became inaccessible to Russians.
According to the US intelligence and Bloomberg.
According to the agency, this refers to the offensive of the Defense Forces in southern Ukraine in early 2026. After the Starlink operation was restricted for Russian troops, the occupiers faced serious problems with communication and coordination of units.
The US intelligence concluded that the Ukrainian military managed to regain about 400 square kilometers of territory. The Pentagon believes that the disconnection of Russian forces from Starlink was one of the key factors in the success of the operation.
If we talk specifically about the reasons for the defeat of the Russians, Bloomberg writes that after the loss of access to the system, Russian units have deteriorated in the management of troops and situational awareness on the battlefield. Similar assessments have previously appeared in Russian military Telegram channels.
According to the agency, the US and SpaceX have been working for the past months to limit the use of Starlink by the Russian military. Washington calls the system critical for the Ukrainian army.
At the same time, Bloomberg notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes have not led to a major breakthrough on the front. Russia continues offensives in several directions and is trying to regroup its forces after communications problems.
