The Estonian Foreign Minister made a statement.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Russia is deliberately sending Ukrainian drones into the airspace of NATO countries in an attempt to weaken support for Ukraine.
The official said this, as "European Truth" writes before a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden on May 22.
Tsahkna commented on the increasing number of drone incidents in the Baltic states, noting that Russia is responsible for them.
"During the last few weeks more and more drones have been flying into our territory - they are Ukrainian drones, but Russia is responsible for this, because it is Russia that is waging a war of aggression against Ukraine and it is Russia that is directing these drones into NATO territory," the minister said.
In this context, he noted NATO's air defense on the eastern flank, which was able to shoot down a drone over Estonia on May 19.
The Estonian foreign minister stressed that Russia is using these incidents for its own purposes in order to force allies to put pressure on Ukraine He added that Ukraine has the right to strike Russian territory.
"I want to assure you that Ukraine has every right to attack these targets deep inside Russia that are helping to wage this invasion war against it. That's why I think Ukraine is proceeding. Of course, they have to be more careful. But all responsibility in this matter lies with Russia," the official emphasized.
Tsahkna added that these incidents should be an incentive to increase pressure on Russia.
"Putin is trying to split the unity of the West and also to make us all put more pressure on Ukraine, to stop these attacks, 'long-range' sanctions, as Ukrainians say. So this is the right way forward - to put more pressure on Russia," the minister said.
