Political Prisoner Journalist Kirill Poznyak Discharged From Intensive Care Unit

Political prisoner journalist Kiril Pazniak, who was earlier hospitalized in Minsk SIZO-1, has been discharged from the intensive care unit, Radyo Svaboda reports.

Kiril Pazniak's condition has improved, he was transferred from the intensive care unit of the emergency hospital to the medical department of Minsk Investigative Prison No. 1, where treatment continues. Pazniak wrote about it in a letter a few days ago.

"Yes, he was very ill on the eve of the trial. In the letter he said that he could not breathe, he was in the intensive care unit of the emergency hospital. Now he is better, he is already in the medical part of the isolation center. But the treatment of his lungs continues," said the source of the newspaper.

The source said the journalist is charged under the articles on the organization of "extremist formation" (Part 1, Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code) and "discrediting Belarus" (Article 369-1 of the Criminal Code).

The trial over Pazniak was to start on May 14, but it was postponed, the date of the new session has not been set yet.
