He shared his fears at the Central Asia-Russia Forum of Secretaries of Security Councils.

Russia and Central Asian countries are threatened by the spread of radical Islam and non-traditional religious movements. This conclusion was reached by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu, speaking at the third meeting of secretaries of security councils in the format "Central Asia - Russia".

"The threat of the spread of extremist ideas, including radical Islam, remains highly relevant for the region. The recruitment of militants and terrorists and their penetration into our countries from outside continues," Mr. Shoigu said (quoted by TASS).

In the opinion of the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, "these factors, as well as the spread of non-traditional religious movements, the increase in the number of their preachers and followers negatively affect the internal political situation."

Addressing the participants of the meeting, Mr. Shoigu said that Russian partners can always count on support in the fight against extremism. He specified that the Russian Federation is ready to accept more students to receive Islamic education in spiritual educational institutions.
