They will begin in the near future.

The European Commission has set a timetable for negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership and plans to propose opening the first negotiating "cluster" as early as mid-June.

This is reported by Euractiv.

According to a senior EU official, the European Commission will present a proposal to open the first "cluster" of chapters on June 16 at a meeting of European ministers in Brussels on the sidelines of the General Affairs Council.

This timetable will allow EU leaders to give final approval to the move at the European Council meeting Although his government does not explicitly support Ukraine's membership, Budapest is ready to compromise in exchange for unblocking European funds that were frozen due to violations of EU law under Orban.

EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos has previously said that the start of negotiations would be possible as soon as the Hungarian transition of power is completed - probably during the Cypriot EU presidency, which runs until the end of June.

The exact parameters of Ukraine's future membership are still being debated.

In particular, the EU is considering the possibility of a "cluster agreement" between the two countries.
